Our Mission

Our mission is clear: to provide valuable, accurate, and easily accessible information for all, empowering and protecting consumers and businesses, supporting a safer, more transparent designer fashion market, and helping combat counterfeiting. Through the Genie Authentication Library, we are building the world’s largest free-to-access resource for luxury authentication, giving consumers and businesses the knowledge they need to avoid counterfeits and make confident, informed decisions. We aim to make a genuine, lasting difference for the industry and for every client who relies on us.

Authenticity isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.

Our Process

Our experts evaluate each item using brand-specific criteria, including, but not limited to, the item's style, materials, stitching, hardware, engravings, serial numbers, date codes, swing tags, and label details, along with other factors unique to the brand and model, such as craftsmanship nuances, finishes, and brand-specific markers that indicate authenticity. Every submission is assessed and compared against:

  • Verified authentic references
  • Documented counterfeit variants
  • Brand-specific production standards
  • Model or style-specific markers and characteristics
  • Manufacturing tolerances and acceptable variances

An item is deemed authentic when it matches verified authentic references, brand-specific production standards, model or style-specific markers and characteristics, and falls within recognised manufacturing tolerances or acceptable variances.

An item is deemed counterfeit when deviations fall outside these standards and defining characteristics, based on comparison with verified authentic references, documented counterfeit variants, brand-specific production standards, model or style-specific markers, and recognised manufacturing tolerances or acceptable variances.

These determinations represent our expert opinion based on our assessment and should not be considered a guarantee of authenticity.
